Who’s Junpei?

Junpei is a precious and very good dog who has blessed so many of our lives in his 11.5 years!

He was recently diagnosed with lymphoma. He doesn’t seem to know it as he is his happy and usual self and shows no signs of being in pain. He does seem to know that people seem to feel a little sad for him and uses it to his advantage to get more treats like the clever doggo he is!

Many people think that he is my (Hanna’s) dog because we hang out so much, but his mom is actually her best friend, Ashley.

Emotional support
- Reach out to Ashley when the time comes but NOT YET. This is all really overwhelming right now, so not yet UNLESS she has talked to you about this topic already herself.
  - She may not respond for a while, but will appreciate your thoughts and support.
  - I (Hanna, Ashley’s best friend/roommate) am a therapist. I’m already fairly burnt out from grad school, moving, and job searching. As I am in a helping profession, I honestly cannot be Ashley’s only emotional support because I will burn out completely. I imagine I will also be grieving when the time comes, so I will need help in gauging and supporting Ashley’s emotional needs.

  - I (Hanna) didn’t make a gofundme or anything because I have no idea what this will cost and I don’t want to ask for too much or too little. I am requesting funds be sent to me so I can help disseminate them to Ash as they are needed, since I know that this will be overwhelming for her. If you don’t know me (Hanna), I’ve been friends with Ash for 12 years and her roommate for over 4 years; I promise I will not be stealing funds that are meant for her!
  - Ashley just bought a house and her puppy was recently in the ER, so she is a little strapped. I would love to raise funds for Junpei’s treatment, but also for:
    - her to take some time off work to grieve when the time comes
    - meals, since this will be a struggle when the time comes
    - art to commemorate this beautiful doggo
Physical support
- Please reach out to Hanna if you are someone who can offer physical support. Whenever Junpei does pass, we will most likely need some support in maintaining stuff. We just moved and have not been able to settle yet, so I anticipate requiring some help depending on timing.
  - We/I may request help in areas like keeping the grass mowed, shoveling snow, organizing the basement, grocery shopping, and cleaning the house.
  - I (Hanna) have a bad wrist and can’t drive, so I may need help with getting to stores and places (like grocery shopping, pet supplies) and moving heavy things around at that time, since Ashley helps me out with these things now.

  - If you can add videos specifically to the video folder, I will eventually compile them into one long video for Ashley. I know she’ll appreciate being able to watch this later.

    - You can also add word documents of memories you have with Junpei, something you like about him, things that remind you of him, etc
